Amrita is a duo featuring soprano saxophonist Kayla Milmine and tabla player Anita Katakkar. Our music is like a canvas where shapes are formed by rhythmic grooves, the colour is spontaneous improvisation and the texture is an exploration of tone, timber and emotion.
We are thrilled to announce that we have been awarded funding to record a new album. We acknowledge the support of the Canada Council for the Arts. In addition, we also acknowledge funding by the Ontario Arts Council and the Toronto Arts Council. We recorded the album over 3 days in May 2025 at Union Sound Company with producer Justin Gray and are now in the production phase.
